Meet Dr. Tice
Dr. Alexander Tice is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 10 years of experience providing psychological services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. Dr. Tice earned his Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University. He completed his Doctoral Internship at Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital/The Guidance Center, in Long Beach, CA and his Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Dr. Tice specializes in the treatment of anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), repetitive behaviors, and Tourette’s Disorder/Tics, as well as a range of other commonly occurring mental health and behavioral issues (e.g. depression, disruptive behaviors, sports psychology, parenting, etc.). Dr. Tice utilizes evidence-based psychotherapy approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (E/RP). In addition, Dr. Tice has training and experience providing other research supported treatment approaches: Parent Management Training (PMT), Comprehensive Behavioral Interventions for Tics (CBIT), as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Dr. Tice has extensive training and experience providing Exposure and Response (E/RP), the “gold standard” treatment for OCD and anxiety disorders. His doctoral dissertation research focused on the application of Exposure and Response (E/RP) for the treatment of comorbid Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD).
As a former college athlete himself, Dr. Tice also enjoys providing sport psychology interventions for children and adolescents participating in a variety of sports. Finally, Dr. Tice always works to integrate a behavioral family systems perspective with all modalities to enhance treatment outcomes. Research and practice show that children and adolescents benefit most when their parents and/or families participate in session.
Dr. Tice sees children, adolescents, and adults for treatment related to anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Tourette’s Disorder/Tics, as well as children, adolescents, and families for those concerns, in addition to behavioral problems such as ADHD, non-compliance.
Prior to moving into private practice, Dr. Tice served as a staff and supervising psychologist at the Child and Family Therapy Clinic at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and directed the Externship Program. As part of his duties, Dr. Tice supervised and taught evidence-based treatments to dozens of emerging clinical psychologists.
